Contemplative Prayer

St. Martin's would like to invite all adults to join the Contemplative Prayer Group which takes place on Thursday evening at 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Parish Canter. We will be using the Bridges with Thomas Merton book entitled "Living Your Deepest Desires." The cost is $10.00.

This group meets weekly and you may join the program at any time. However, if you cannot come weekly, please come as your schedule would permit. You are always welcome.

If you are interested in signing up or want more information, please stop by the sign-up table in the Gathering Area after mass.

What We Do

Contemplative prayer leads to contemplative living where one meets God in the significance of one's everyday life experiences. It is about walking in relationship with Jesus Christ and seeing things from above as God sees them. This involves deep listening, respect and acceptance for others.

The format of this group is one in which you will silently read a scripture or short biblical reading and think about how God is speaking to you through your everyday life experiences. There is a sharing in dialogue where listening is required vs. communicating back or giving an opinion or offering advice.

This program also offers opportunities to experience silence or quiet time in prayer. We end each session in silence in the prayer room.
